'Tis the good reader that makes the good book; in every book he finds passages which seem confidences or asides hidden from all else and unmistakenly meant for his ear; the profit of books is according to the sensibility of the reader; the profoundest thought or passion sleeps as in a mine, until it is discovered by an equal mind and heart.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, Society and Solitude, 1870

We can never resist any bookshop, and certainly not in Venice. But what a pity that with all the books to choose from, he seems to have selected a good old-fashioned video-cassette!
An image caught unaware, and very effective.
What an elegant gentleman! Just look at the shine on those shoes! You don't see shoes like that very often these days, at least, not around here. And the smart scarf and titfer.
We were here (with Pierre, I mean) on December 7, 2011. It is near a good Indian restaurant.
Yes, where did that dapper gentleman manage to find a videocassette among all those books? I wonder if he brought it.
they have some fun (and old) stuff in that bookstore ...wonder whether they still have the up-cycled plastic bottles-flower bouquets ...
Great photo!
