Casual rambles in Venice...
I love this post 'though books are sacred to me, in this case, they make a lovely staircase. Soft under foot with memories of trees that make their leaves . . .
What's the view from up there?
Not the best way to care for your books, but fun! I'm wondering why the writing on the wall is in (not exactly fluent) English instead of Italian.
Hi ODP. In the Sunday, June 16, 2013 picture, you can see somebody looking over the wall ;)
When wandering eastward from Santa Maria Formosa, a detour into that marvelous little campiello (or is it an open corte?)is always in order for a pleasant chat and petting a few cats while perusing the best selection of books in Venice! Librero Acqua Alta awaits!
In answer to Oakland's question, the view from up there is of a canal that runs adjacent to the backside of this bookstore. It's a lovely place!
Perfect quote; a book in any shape and condition is a treasure.
