No Big Boats

I feel conflicted about these ships... they do bring much need tourism income to Venice but at the same time I dont think a day trip is the best way to experience Venice. no, Venice has to be savoured... at least a week. Only when you've wandered around Venice at night can you truly experience the city.

I think we all feel the same: These boats are waaay too big and her passengers aren't really experiencing Venice by hanging out in the piazza then buying "authentic" Venetian souvenirs made in China. On the other hand, I like to have the city to myself early in the morning and late at night, when the hordes are back on their ship . . .

I used to be ambivalent about the need of these cruise ships, but to anymore. Despite the loss of income for port cities, the environmental damage in their wake is not worth it.
